Robert Brown Sports Performance is "The most comprehensive volleyball sports performance enhancement program created to build powerful volleyball athletes".
For an athlete to perform optimally on the volleyball court, the level of conditioning must be outstanding. The athlete's ability to perform is based on her ability to gain needed energy for performing. Some would argue that volleyball requires the usage of both aerobic (uses oxygen) and anaerobic (does not use oxygen) energy systems. Because of the length of time volleyball matches and games take, it is sometimes considered an aerobic sport, but when the athlete jumps up for a block or jumps to hit the ball those movements are anaerobic in nature. The sport of volleyball requires athletes to use the anaerobic system because of the reliance on explosive jumping, fast movements, and directional changes. Now understanding this, the conditioning program should be tailored around the notion that the goal must be to improve anaerobic conditioning. We know that short duration bouts of exercise, such as sprints, is the only way to improve volleyball specific conditioning. That's why the best conditioning team will have more energy at the end of a match and will be able to finish the match stronger than their less conditioned opponent.
Program Goals:
Increase Vertical Jump
Increase strength
Increase explosive power
Increase agility
Increase level of conditioning
Strengthen Joints and poorly developed muscle groups in order to prevent injuries
