Do you love horses and enjoy sharing your “horsey knowledge with others”? Do you belong to a group or have some extra time on your hands and would like to do a community service project at the barn? Have you always loved horses but wanted to learn a little more about them and would enjoy helping out at the barn? If you answered YES to any or all of these questions then we would love to have you as a Camp Carter Equestrian Center Volunteer!
We are a year round Equestrian Center and have feeding and barn chores every morning and evening in addition to providing horse programs and rides to groups on the weekends, and during the summer. You must be at last 12 years old to volunteer with us and if you have not been around horses, or you do not have any horse experience, you will need to attend our volunteer training.
Below is a brief outline of our volunteer needs:
Every Day - morning and/or evening feedings and general barn chores
Week Days - Some week days we have schools at the barn and we would love to get some help grooming horses, as well as have volunteers walk along on our rides.
Weekends - On the weekends we have groups we would love to get some help grooming the horses and teaching our horse program.
Summer 2012: We have 8 weeks of horse camp in the morning, we provide trail rides to our Overnight Campers and we also have special groups that do rides and horse program in the summer. One of our special groups is Camp Can Do. Which is a camp designed for the visually impaired. These children come to the barn every day and participate in both riding and non-riding activities, it is an extremely rewarding experience to be able to work with these amazing children!
