Safety Procedures (just a few):

Inclement Weather Procedure:

All pool areas (indoor and out) will be closed and lessons will be cancelled if we see lightning or we hear thunder. The pools and deck will close for 30 minutes from the last point of incident.

Please refer to our swimming lesson make up policy should we have to cancel class due to inclement weather.  Please contact the YMCA front desk at 817-346-8855 thirty minutes prior to your class if bad weather is in the area.

Swim Testing Procedure:

For the safety of our members, we will require all children under the age of 14 to successfully pass a swim test before they are allowed to swim in deep water.

Children that do not pass the swim test must always be within arm's length of an actively involved adult caregiver who is in the water with the child, or be wearing a properly fitted USCG approved personal flotation device (PFD).

If the child can stand with their entire head out of the water at any spot of the shallow area, a floatation device or caregiver involvement is not required.

Swim Testing Availability:  Swim Testing is available during all open swim times, as long as both lifeguards are not engaged in lifeguarding the water.

Swim Testing Frequency: We will restart our swim test logs weekly.

Please encourage all children to check in with the lifeguard prior to getting in the water.
