The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth has agreed to partner with the City of Fort Worth to open four of our YMCA pools to city residents each day from 2:00-4:00 p.m. We wanted to let you, our members, know about this and explain the process a little.
Background: This partnership was created due to the City’s closing of 6 pools due to budget cuts. They came to us to see if we could help provide swimming access for those city residents whose pools are being closed. Our YMCA has always tried to respond to community needs, and this fit right in with our heritage. We’ve been teaching residents to swim for 120 years in Fort Worth!
2 - 4 - 7= 2 HOURS A DAY, 4 POOL LOCATIONS, 7 DAYS A WEEK
Our plan involves 4 of our pools, for 2 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Saturday, June 5 – Saturday, August 21
Those 4 pools are:
McDonald Community YMCA, 2400 E. Berry Street (closed on Sundays)
Eastside YMCA, 1500 Sandy Lane
E. R. Van Zandt Southwest YMCA, 4750 Barwick Drive
Westside YMCA, 8201 Calmont Avenue
At each of those branches, City of Fort Worth residents will be welcomed to the YMCA pools during the hours of 2-4. In addition, YMCA members will also be welcomed to swim during those recreational swim hours. All rules of safety will continue to apply to everyone swimming in our YMCA pools. We hope you will join us in welcoming City residents to our YMCAs.
