Downtown Fort Worth YMCA Rooftop will have New Solar Array Donated by Reliant Energy
Donation will help YMCA lower energy usage and cost, positively impact environment
HOUSTON ─With help from Reliant Energy the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth will harness the sun’s power to save energy and lower electricity costs, as well as to reduce its impact on the environment. Reliant Energy donated a 10-kilowatt solar array for the organization’s rooftop and will provide any maintenance for the solar array as well.
“Solar solutions are a new option for our customers and we wanted to share the same benefits of solar energy with the YMCA to help advance the work they are doing in the community,” said Jason Few, Reliant Energy President. “The solar array will help maximize the YMCA’s energy dollar and will save the organization money that will be put to good use providing vital services to local neighborhoods and families.”
“We are thrilled to be receiving this donation from Reliant Energy,” said Tony Shuman, President and CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. “The solar panels will help us reduce our carbon footprint, reduce our energy usage and cost and educate our families about renewable energy, energy conservation and the benefits to the environment. These savings can be put right back into our programs and services, allowing us to involve more people and make a greater impact in our community.
To commemorate the donation, Reliant presented an over-sized check to Tony Shuman on June 21 before a Texas Rangers game at The Ballpark in Arlington. On the same day, the company launched Reliant Solar Solutions, which provides new options for customers who want the benefits of home solar electricity without the upfront costs and maintenance cost of owning a rooftop solar system.
